In ClaroSpeak V2.5 onwards you can bold, italic, underline and add images to your document. If you decide to save, share or export your document, ClaroSpeak will use an RTF or RTFD file. Which file format is used depends on whether images have been added to the document or not. Below explains what happens in each situation: • If there are no images in the document, the file will be saved and shared as an RTF file. On Windows and Mac you will need a program which opens RTF files to be able to view these (e.g. WordPad on Windows or TextEdit on Mac). • If there are images in the document, the file will either be saved as RTF (and lose the images) or RTFD (and retain the images) depending where the file will be sent: • Save document (locally) – saving a document locally within ClaroSpeak will always save as an RTFD file and retain all formatting and images.
• Save to Dropbox or Google Drive – the RTFD file will be compressed into a zip file and uploaded to Dropbox or Google Drive. The RTFD version can be unzipped and viewed on a Mac using a program like TextEdit. Unfortunately, Windows computers are unable to view RTFD files and instead, treats them as a directory. You can open this directory and view the RTF file and the images, but the images will not be shown within the RTF file. • Using the Share button – the RTF file version will be shared, losing any images.
